Background

In a pivotal move as part of its African expansion, ‘Cellecor Gadgets Limited’ has appointed Krishan Dhiman as International Business Head for its soon-to-be-built manufacturing plant in Liberia. The facility will produce, sell and export home appliances and consumer electronics to the continent.

Dhiman has over 28 years of experience in Consumer Durables, Electronics Manufacturing and White Goods. Before joining Cellecor, he spent 13 years at Epack Durable Limited as Vice President of Manufacturing Excellence, director of manufacturing improvement and business transformation projects.

Dhiman will now be responsible for the company’s African business strategy and spearhead the Liberia manufacturing plant. He will also spend a good part of his time in African countries developing distribution networks, establishing strategic partnerships and overseeing exports to West, East and Central Africa for the firm, Cellecor.

The African continent is seen by the company as one of the key growth markets for consumer electronics and home appliances. The region has a large population base of over 1.5 billion with a growing urbanisation rate that will create good demand for consumer products. Cellecor will utilize the Liberia facility as a manufacturing and export center to enhance market access and supply chain.

Smart TVs, smartphones, feature phones, party speakers, washing machines, refrigerators, fans, coolers and small kitchen appliances will be manufactured by the plant. The company says local production will deliver quicker and more affordable prices throughout the region.

The appointment dovetails with Cellecor’s plan to grow its international business and to shore up manufacturing operations. The company wants to increase the scale of its presence in Africa and to satisfy the growing demand in the region by increasing its local production and distribution system.
