Background

The African Guarantee Fund picked Constant N’ZI as its new Group Chief Executive Officer, an announcement that followed the organization’s 15th Annual General Meeting and Board Meeting.

N’ZI previously held the roles of Deputy Group CEO and Group Chief Risk Officer before taking on the position of Interim Group CEO in February 2026. He brings more than 15 years of experience spanning financial services, banking, risk management, development finance and stakeholder engagement.

AGF said the Board of Directors carried out a selection process to find a leader capable of guiding the organization through its next growth phase, strengthening its financial sustainability and expanding its reach across Africa.

The organization said N’ZI has demonstrated the ability to connect technical banking expertise with the leadership and relationship-building skills needed across all stakeholder groups.

Felix Bikpo, Chairman of the Board, welcomed N’ZI to the role, citing his extensive leadership experience and deep knowledge of the company’s mandate.

Bikpo said he expects the Group to keep strengthening its position as Africa’s leading guarantee fund under N’ZI’s leadership, while holding to strong governance standards and delivering long-term value for shareholders.

N’ZI said he felt honored by the confidence placed in him by the Board and shareholders. He outlined plans to build on AGF’s existing platform for mobilizing finance for African SMEs, strengthen financial performance, mobilize additional capital and deepen partnerships with financial institutions.

The appointment comes as AGF pursues an ambitious capital mobilization agenda aimed at expanding its guarantee capacity and supporting more small and mid-sized enterprises across the continent.
