Background-
The BBC has rolled out Africa Enterprise, a sponsored series that profiles leading entrepreneurs and new growth prospects across Africa. Financial services company Absa backs the show, which began on October 5.
Viewers can catch the series on the BBC News channel and on a dedicated page at BBC.com. The channel will run three four-minute episodes every week and a 12-minute edition at the close of each month. Custom digital stories will also go up on the BBC website and its social platforms. The show will stream on the BBC Global YouTube page, while shorter clips will run on BBC Global’s LinkedIn channel.
Isla Macleod, Vice President Commercial for Africa and Europe at BBC Studios, said the series celebrates the drive, creativity and enterprising spirit behind the continent’s future. She said BBC Studios and Absa share a goal of telling Africa’s business stories to audiences at home and abroad.
Sydney Mbhele, Group Chief Marketing and Corporate Affairs Officer at Absa Group, said the continent cannot be understood through a single market or narrative. He said African success is best explained by Africans themselves. According to Mbhele, the series gives business leaders and innovators a worldwide stage to share views on the decisions driving economic growth.
Outside the UK, the BBC News channel and website carry prominent advertising and sponsorship.
