Background :
A collaboration between the National Bank of Egypt and Mastercard will see the introduction of the USD Corporate Debit Card which will allow corporate customers in Egypt to transact in US dollars.
The card provides a solution that will enable corporates to pay suppliers, service providers, and online businesses using US dollars from their Mastercard payment network.
Available through NBE branches nationwide, the card connects businesses to Mastercard’s global payments network, backing cross-border transactions and international trade.
Soha El Turky, Deputy CEO at the National Bank of Egypt, called the collaboration a significant milestone in the bank’s push to support Egyptian businesses, noting that it gives SMEs and large corporates payment tools that simplify cross-border transactions and allow secure, seamless USD payments to international partners.
She said the initiative aims to help Egyptian businesses take a stronger role in the global economy while building up the country’s digital payments infrastructure, adding that it should strengthen the wider payments ecosystem and make international transactions run more smoothly.
Mohamed Assem, Country Manager for Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria at Mastercard, said borderless, inclusive commerce underpins sustainable economic growth, and that the partnership with NBE reflects a shared goal of giving businesses what they need to succeed in a digital-first economy.
He added that Mastercard’s global payments infrastructure lets businesses trade with confidence and expand beyond their borders.
The USD Corporate Debit Card is now live across NBE branches nationwide, pairing the bank’s corporate banking services with Mastercard’s international payments network to support secure US dollar transactions for Egyptian businesses.
