Background-
Holman Fleet is focusing on greater flexibility for fleets and on using its data to give customers valuable insight as it prepares for its next stage of growth.
Nick Hay, the new managing director of Holman Fleet UK, also wants the vehicle leasing and fleet management company to keep its messaging consistent across departments and with customers. He said the business has plenty of strengths and can promote them better. “The key thing for us right now is making sure we’re aligned internally,” Hay said.
Holman ranked 16th in this year’s FN50, with 19,136 vehicles on its risk fleet. It also won Leasing Company of the Year, up to 20,000 vehicles, at this year’s Fleet News Awards.
Hay says Holman stands apart from many FN50 leasing companies. He believes bank-owned rivals focus on the asset and its financing, while manufacturer-owned firms mainly focus on the vehicles they build. Holman offers a broader range of services. Hay expects providers that combine services, finance and independence from any single manufacturer to win in the long term.
Holman is a family-run global organization that works across several automotive sectors. It began as a single Ford dealership in New Jersey in 1924. It now employs more than 9,000 people and manages more than two million vehicles worldwide.
In the UK, Holman bought Fleet Support Group in 2011. The deal gave Automotive Resources International, a Holman subsidiary, a strong foothold in the sector.
