Background

The Raxio Group has named Dennis Kahindi as its General Manager in Uganda amid rising demand for cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital solutions in Africa.

Kahindi has more than 20 years’ worth of experience in Uganda’s telecommunications and technology sector. He has held senior roles at Huawei, Microsoft, Oracle, Liquid Intelligent Technologies and Airtel Uganda.

His appointment comes as businesses and governments seek secure data infrastructure within their own countries. Data centres are becoming critical for sectors such as banking, healthcare, education, telecommunications and digital government services.

Uganda, Ethiopia, Mozambique, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, and Angola are among the countries where Raxio runs data centers. It is also developing a facility in Tanzania. Its carrier-neutral centres allow customers to choose network providers based on their needs.

Raxio CEO Robert Skjodt said Kahindi’s regional technology knowledge, business experience and ability to build customer relationships would help the company strengthen its partnerships in Uganda.

Kahindi said Raxio’s focus on digital infrastructure across Africa was a key reason for joining the company. He plans to work with organisations across financial services, telecom, government, healthcare and energy to build infrastructure that supports their growth.

He said organisations increasingly want critical systems and data hosted locally to improve resilience, performance and control over sensitive information.

Raxio recently crossed US$380 million in committed capital. In addition to funding from the International Finance Corporation, Proparco, and the Emerging Africa & Asia Infrastructure Fund, its supporters include Roha and Meridiam.
