Background
AvadaPay has come up with its Soft POS system, which will enable companies to accept Mobile Money payments using Android phones and tablet computers rather than conventional payment terminals. This will ease payment collection processes for companies in African countries where the Mobile Money payment system is the most popular.
The software enables merchants to do payment collection, transaction management, and customer service all from one mobile device. Users can accept payments by generating QR codes, sending payment requests directly to customers’ phones or sharing payment links through messaging apps, email or social media.
Unlike many Soft POS solutions that focus mainly on card payments, AvadaPay has built its platform around Mobile Money. The company said this approach reflects the way customers and businesses already make payments across East and Central Africa.
The solution supports several Mobile Money networks, including M-Pesa, Airtel Money, MTN Mobile Money, Orange Money, Vodacom, Tigo and Halotel, depending on the market. Businesses such as retailers, restaurants, hotels, clinics, schools and delivery services can use the platform to speed up payment collection and reduce manual errors.
AvadaPay said the system also helps employees who collect payments outside a fixed checkout counter by making it easier to verify transactions, confirm payment amounts and match payments with customer orders or services.
According to the organization, companies are searching for payment solutions that increase productivity while blending in seamlessly with current consumer payment practices. By combining multiple payment options within one application, AvadaPay aims to make digital payment collection simpler for merchants and customers across Africa.
